A Delightful Visit to the Ritz Carlton St. Thomas

So there's something I left out of my post about our day on St. Thomas. We made a visit to the Ritz Carlton St. Thomas! Once we arrived at the port and were met with our Jeep, we made our way to the resort which is located on the southeast side of the island. The drive is about 30 minutes from the Havenisght Cruise Port and 35 minutes from the airport.

We've toured quite a number of resorts recently and I can tell you that this one certainly stands out. Upon arrival, we were greeted by our smiling guide, AJ, the resort's sales and marketing coordinator. We were quickly offered a Lemongrass Iced Tea which was So tasty! I'm told this is a standard offering at guest arrivals. The reception area boasts a sweeping ocean view with sights of nearby islands scattered throughout, leaving absolutely no doubt that you've arrived in paradise.

The resort's setting on Great Bay creates a striking yet somehow intimate atmosphere. The architecture is understated but not at all forgettable. The gorgeous lightly colored buildings are a bright contrast to the turquoise waters surrounding the buildings. You won't find any towering, obtrusive structures at the resort. Buildings are a max of five or so stories, designed to complement their tropical surroundings. You'll see buildings named for plants like Gardenia, Jasmine, and Lilly. It's a nice touch that reminds you to enjoy the beauty of the resort and surrounding area.

Hurricane Irma hit this area in 2017 causing a huge amount of damage. As a result, the resort has undergone a two-year $100 million renovation. Contemporary beachside design complements resort-wide ocean views. You'll find spacious layouts designed for gathering and quiet hideaways that are perfect for relaxing.

As I said, the resort is located on Great Bay, offering waters that are ideal for kayaking, snorkeling, paddle boarding, and windsurfing. There are two pools at the resort, one is a beachfront, adults-only infinity pool, while the other (located directly behind the adults' pool) is a family pool with a water slide and a sort of splash pad area.

All guest rooms feature a balcony with a resort or ocean view. I found these rooms to be quite spacious. Honestly, I just love the interiors of the guest rooms here. It's hands-down one of my favorites in terms of guest room décor and views. They're light and airy with shades of neutrals. Fabrics are delicate, as are the shades of taupes and blues used throughout. Natural light is abundant, filling the spaces with that wonderful Caribbean sunshine. The airiness of the interiors provides a seamless transition to the overlook of white sand and crystal blue waters on the patios. These rooms just feel like vacation, and guests need only to peek out to their balcony to confirm that they're in a tropical oasis.

Room and suite offerings vary from one king bed to two queens, and a one-bedroom suite to a three-bedroom presidential suite.

I do have a few notes on Club-level stays at this resort. If having a prime lounging spot on the beach is important to you, I would highly recommend a club-level stay. There is an area of the resort's beach that is dedicated to club-level guests, meaning that you have a great chance of getting a lounge chair without having to arrive early in the morning to claim a spot. You'll also enjoy access to the Club Lounge which serves breakfast, a selection of foods throughout the day, and complimentary drinks as well. Right outside the Club Lounge is an awesome terrace with gorgeous views of the bay and neighboring islands!

Part of the experience is a personalized check-in experience, a dedicated concierge, and the best part is the views from these club-level rooms! They are truly breathtaking! There is a limited inventory of club-level rooms, so definitely try to book early if this is something you're interested in.

Accommodation buildings are spread out enough to keep the resort from feeling crowded but are close enough that walks to pools and dining are by no means lengthy. Paved pathways guide visitors around the resort with bellmen available to provide golf-cart rides between buildings if needed.

There are five dining locations here. Open for dinner, Alloro offers Sicilian dishes in an unforgettable oceanside setting. Coconut Cove is the place to visit for local dishes served beachfront, open for lunch and dinner. For beachside bites or drinks, make your way to Sails, hours vary by day. For a unique experience, visit on Tuesdays for Sea to Sails. Watch as the local fishermen deliver their freshest catch to the resort. You'll have the chance to choose your catch and the culinary team will prepare it to your liking.

Southwind is a fun little coffee house that's open through most of the day. Finally, Bleuwater is a fine Asian dining location offering breakfast and dinner. If you're traveling with a group and would love a unique dining experience, you might want to consider a private customizable beachfront dinner with Alloro.

Here's another Amazing benefit to staying at this lovely resort. The Lady Lynsey offers Catamaran cruises leaving directly from the resort. Adventure in comfort on a St John snorkeling tour or even a Sunset cruise around the bay. What an experience to remember! These are just some of the many offerings available to guests of the resort.

Smiling faces are worn by staff members and everyday cares are easily thrown from mind here. If you've been thinking about a USVI vacation, then I would definitely suggest considering a stay at the Ritz Carlton St. Thomas. If you're ready to begin planning or would like to discuss your vacation together, I'd love to speak with you!
